Dedicated to the memory of Raymond Thompson

This site is a tribute to Raymond Thompson. They are much loved and will always be remembered.

Raymond passed peacefully away on Sunday 20th February 2022 with his beloved wife Kaye and two daughters, Charlotte and Rachael, by his side.

Raymond was born in Holloway in London on Thursday 24th March 1932 to Reg and Ivy.  In his early years Raymond was a keen cyclist.

During the war, Ray was evacuated to Tring in Hertfordshire with his brother Denham. The years spent there were happy ones.  After his period of conscription into the army, Raymond moved into the pub trade with his brother in Rotherhithe in 1955. Followed by running The Hole in The Wall in Richmond, running many pubs and catering facilities in London and Hotels in Devon.

1966 was an auspicious year. Not only did we win the World Cup but Raymond got married to Kaye on the 15th October. Charlotte and Rachael then followed; later came Grandsons  Robbie & Ben.

Raymond’s interest was Masonry. He was a founder member of a number of Masonic lodges and rising to become The Provincial Grand Master of The Royal Order of Scotland in Cornwall.

For a man who often wondered if he would live to see the Millennium, at 89 Raymond you didn’t do too badly.
A beloved husband and Daddy and Grandad, you will be sadly missed by all your family.
